Like I promised here is my recipe for a cold strawberry pie. I got this out of a church cookbook. The crust is a Bisquick recipe. The filling of the pie is jello and strawberries. The following is the recipe:
CRUST:
1 1/4 c. Bisquick
2 Tbsp. soft margarine/butter
3 to 4 Tbsp hot water
Strawberries
GLAZE:
1 1/2 c. warm water
3/4 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
3 oz. pkg. strawberry gelatin
CRUST:
Combine Bisquick, margarine, and hot water in a bowl. Mix and press into pie plate. Pierce with a fork. Bake 10 to 12 minutes at 350 degrees.
GLAZE:
Heat first 3 ingredients to a slow boil. Remove from heat and add gelatin.
Slice and washed fresh strawberries into a cooled pie shell. Use as many strawberries until the pie pan is full. Pour glaze over strawberries and refrigerate several hours until set.
I prefer using sugar free strawberry jello. You can not tell the difference in the pie. I like a lot if strawberries in my pies.
This recipe also works well with peaches. The change in recipe would be peaches instead of strawberries and use peach gelatin.

Strawberry Picking
Today my mother and I went strawberry picking. This season of picking started because how warm the winter was this year. The grocery stores have been running deals on packs of strawberries. The strawberries at the store have been freakishly large. Nothing beats a fresh picked strawberry though. I swear berries taste different out of the patch verse the store.
Delilah came with me to the patch. Of course she could not do anything besides just sit there in the stroller. She tried to sleep but because it was so hot outside, she was not having much of it. Between my mom and I we picked four boxes.
I came home and made one cold strawberry pie. Unfortunately, I didn't have cool whip but my husband still said it was good. The last cold peach pie didn't turn out so well. I will be off to the store in the morning to get more boxes of strawberry jello to make more pies.
I will post my recipe at a later date. Follow my blog to find a very simple recipe for a strawberry pie!
The following are some pictures of Delilah in the patch, the strawberries that I picked, and one cold strawberry pie.

The Start of Summer
For the past two years, I have been used to my routine changing at the end of every semester. The Spring 2012 semester is over and the Summer 2012 semester has already started. This summer I am teaching one class, College Algebra 2 at Penn State - Mont Alto. My class started with twelve students. The first day of class, I had eight students still enrolled. By the second day of class, there was only six students. The students are dropping like flies. The nice thing about the class is that the class is only for six weeks, three nights a week and from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
I have the chance to spend the whole day with my daughter. There is a lot of changing dirty diapers, feedings, and naps. Delilah will hold toys in her hand but she does not realize that she is holding them. We have conversations during the day too. I do not know what she is saying but she will make sounds with her mouth and vocal chords. I will have to video tape it some time so that my readers can hear her.
When she is napping, I try to get things done around my house. I like my house picked up and clean. I like the laundry to be folded. I do not like to let the hamper get over flowing with dirty clothes. I like a clean bathroom. I do not like dirty dishes sitting on the counter when the dishwasher is empty. I do not like toys laying on the floor. I do not like the weeds to be crazy in the flower bed. I used to be able to get everything done in one time. I find that it takes me longer to accomplish what I used to accomplish in a day's time or less. I have a mental list of things that I want to accomplish this summer. I will keep you updated as I accomplish things.

An Update on the Smile Situation
In a previous post I reported on Delilah trying to smiling. As she has been getting older by the day, she is becoming more involved in the world around her. I have been able to make faces and funny noises to Delilah and she will respond. I still can not wait to hear her first laugh. This is the latest picture of her smiling.

Thursday Thrifting
My brother is all about thrifting. He is always looking for the unique look that most people his age does not have.
He has found the best places to go for the best selection. He has also found a thrift store that has a special deal on Thursday at the Volunteers of America thrift store This store is located in Mechanicsburg, PA at the corner of Carlisle Pike and Silver Spring Road. The deal on Thursday is, you buy 10 items for $10. All the items have to be under $5 in order to get this deal.
This past Thursday I told my brother that I would go with him. I was very impressed with the store. The building used go be a grocery store. The employees have organized everything very well. I ended up finding two dresses for Delilah, five shirts for myself, and a skirt. My brother and I combined our items so that we could get the deal. After one look at the hats, bags, and wallets I found a steal. I have been looks at wallets at box stores for a while. I could not find a wallet the was what I was looking for and a good price. I looked in the basket of wallets and there was the golden egg! The following wallet is a Dockers wallet that was brand new. The tags were still in the wallet. It was originally $33 wallet that I was able to pick up for $4.99. The wallet does not count as clothing so I was not able to get it for a dollar with the rest if my clothes.
